Yoga Classes

We have various forms of Yoga practice available at the Aleafia Wellness Centre. All of which offer benefits, some are preferred over others by individual practice, that’s all. You will see that some classes are directed towards introductory levels or intermediate. All other classes are suitable for all levels.

Ashtanga: Made up of six series of asanas, the Ashtanga primary series, intermediate series, and the four advanced series work to build upon what each of the previous stages have taught you, in order to prepare you for the increasing difficulty as you progress through them.

Hatha: In this class, postures are practiced to align, strengthen and promote flexibility in the body. Breathing techniques and meditation are also integrated. You can expect an emphasis on simplicity, repetition, and ease of movement.

Vinyasa: translates to “flowing with breath”, is a dynamic style of Hatha yoga that joins physical postures, or asanas, with inhales and exhales, creating a steady internal rhythm and transition between poses for the practice.

Meditation

Meditation

Meditation is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.

We encourage everyone to experiment with meditation at all levels and discuss the practice with the instructor.

Is yoga and meditation for everybody?

More Questions?

Please feel free to ask any of the staff or specific instructors about niche questions!

What do I need for a class?

In the Barefoot Studio, you will of course be barefoot! So please leave your shoes outside the studio.

If you would like to bring your own mat and accessories please do, but we also have enough to provide for full classes. All mats need to be sprayed at the end of each class and left in place on the floor, please.

You may like to bring a jumper or blanket to use at the end of your session.

Please note that fungal or contagious foot concerns will need to be spoken about prior to the class starting and please cover them and wear socks.
