Holistic Health

What is Holistic Health?

You may have heard of Holistic health, it is a lifestyle approach that is becoming more popular. Interestingly, the majority of holistic health practices are traditional and ancient medicine that has been around for centuries!

Holistic health takes a whole-person approach to health and healing that includes body, mind, and soul as well as environmental qualities of everyday living. A holistic approach reminds you that the whole is made up of many interdependent parts. In the case of the individual, when one part is out of balance or neglected, it affects the other parts.

Aleafia Reflexology

Holistic health puts the majority of health in the hands of the individual, through mindful and informed choices, self-study, education, and a way of life that is in harmony with nature. Holistic health practitioners and modalities are constructed to support the individual in a whole-person healthy way of living.

Health and healing take a personal choice, observation, and commitment—learning to tune into your experience and learn what works, what exacerbates symptoms, and what nourishes your whole being.

Learning the basics of holistic health may help you navigate your health and healing with mindfulness and inspiration to strongly guide you on your quest.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a form of therapy that uses the power of suggestion to encourage positive change. A hypnotherapist will use relaxation techniques to help you reach a state where the conscious part of your mind is relaxed and your subconscious part is more open to suggestions.

They will then use suggestion techniques (where they ‘talk’ to your subconscious) to help encourage the change you’re looking for.

Reiki

The Reiki principles allow for a beautifully relaxing treatment that helps to balance your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual being. Originating in Japan, "Rei" ( meaning universal) and "Ki" ( meaning life energy) are the life forces that flow through all things.

Receiving a Reiki treatment helps to rebalance your energy flow, remove blockages, promote self-healing, relaxation, and stress reduction.

Bowen Therapy

This technique is a gentle therapy that is applied to areas of the body, using thumbs and fingers in a specific process or order. The move is a rolling-type move of the thumbs and forefingers and is designed to stimulate nerve pathways that allow a ‘conversation’ to take place between different nervous systems of the body. Between each set of moves, the therapist leaves the room to allow the communication process to take place. These breaks increase the effectiveness of each subsequent set of moves.

Reflexology

Reflexology is non-invasive and a very relaxing and pleasant experience. Whether you have a chronic or an acute health problem or you are looking for a way to reduce tension and promote wellbeing, reflexology is a perfect treatment.

Minute reflex points on the feet correspond to the body. Using techniques such as thumb walking and hooking, light pressure is applied. The purpose of the treatment is to normalize the body's functioning to balance and break down tension, alleviate stress, to improve nerve functioning and blood supply throughout the body.

Tension headaches, back pain, digestive problems, and other common ailments can be relieved by reflexology. Fertility, pregnancy, and menopause symptoms can be helped effectively. Overall, reflexology can help physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Mindfulness & Hypnotherapy

I regard all my services as offering self-help. They all focus on helping yourself to
better, whether that is better health, a better lifestyle, or a better future.

By looking at the individual in a truly holistic way I believe it is possible to make
real and long-term changes for the better.
Most importantly, you can take control and manage your life as you want.

I have recently also started offering therapy sessions via Skype, which allows me to work with clients anywhere in the world, and for them to enjoy a deep relaxation add de-stress process from the security and comfort of their own home.

Bowen Therapy

Hi,  I'm Rosie and I have a real passion for the Bowen Technique - not only giving treatments but I love to have Bowen myself! Previously I worked in health and education and I came to Bowen after seeing how it had transformed the life of a relative.

Qualified through the European College of Bowen Studies (now the College of Bowen Studies - CBS), I'm also a member of the Bowen Therapy Professional Association and I'm really excited to be part of the team at Aleafia. I'm fully insured to practice and registered with the Information Commissioner's Office.

Reflexology & Aromatherapy

I’ve been practicing as a fully qualified Reflexologist for 22 years. I gained an IIHHT diploma in Holistic Therapies in 1998. I enjoyed every part of the course, but it has always been Reflexology that has always interested me the most and where I have input my continued development.

Reflexology is a noninvasive, complementary treatment that aims to optimize mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. I specialize in building strong and trusting relationships with my clients, each treatment is personal and tends to their individual needs.

As a qualified Aromatherapist. I am also able to make personalized, essential oil blends to order.

How will I feel after my session?

You will probably feel fairly normal. There is nothing evasive with holistic health. Depending on your specific treatment your therapist will let you know exactly what to expect.

What about after-care?

After all treatments, we recommend not to train or be too active. Rest and let the therapy settle into the body and drinking lots of water, hydration works with holistic health and is an important health pillar to support all beneficial treatment.

Do you recommend more than one appointment?

As with everything, once is great, but a couple of sessions is even better! It will ultimately depend on your reason for visiting your therapist. They will be able to advise you more specifically during a consultation and after your first treatment.

Can I speak to my practitioner before my appointment?

Yes absolutely! If you would like to speak to any of our staff please do just ask and we will put you in touch.

For some treatments, you will be contacted prior to your session as you may have to complete some health check forms.
